CATALONIA CHICORY

The shape and size varies depending on the type of product grown, here in the company we plant Catalonia, the tomato, also known as chicory, and the round red radicchio. Catalonia in this case is a large-headed plant with more or less jagged leaves, the ribs are white, wide and fleshy and the plant has good vigor with an upright habit that can reach 50-60 cm with a weight that exceeds 500 gr.

Chicory is a typical plant of the Mediterranean regions where its main area of origin appears to be located. In addition to the numerous cultivated varieties, in some regions wild plants are also commonly used for human consumption. The crops are widespread throughout the national territory, but the region most affected by this crop is Puglia with around 4,500 hectares, followed by Lombardy, Lazio and Tuscany. In Puglia, Catalonia is mainly cultivated, while in the Veneto the types with colored or mottled leaves prevail, more commonly recognized by the name of radicchio.
